We’ve got something really special to share with you. 💫
Meet Becky—a real WalkFit user who decided to challenge herself in the most inspiring way. When she reached out to us with her story, we knew right away: this was someone we had to walk alongside.
So, we teamed up with Becky to launch In Becky’s Shoes, a new two-month program inside the WalkFit app where users could follow her real journey—from day one nerves to daily wins, workouts, setbacks, and everything in between.
And now? The full program is available for you to experience too in WalkFit.
Before she kicked things off, we sat down with Becky to get a feel for who she is, why she’s doing this, and what she hopes to achieve. This is where her story begins.
This June, I am turning 30. My weight and overall health have been something I’ve struggled with on and off since my teenage years.
I gained a lot of weight while in college and then again in 2020/2021. I’ve been struggling to lose weight and feel really good in my body (and my energy) for way too long now.
I knew that I wanted to challenge myself to become the healthiest version of myself by the time I turned 30. This challenge was the best way to dive headfirst into making that possible.
Of course! I’m a born and raised New Yorker, and I hold that identity close to my heart—even though I moved away for college when I was 18 and now live in the DC area.
I’m married, and we have an adorable hound mix pup named Sage. I got her a few months after graduating college, so we’ve really grown up together.
I love to travel and write. Walking has always been something I’ve loved to do to destress, but I haven’t been doing much of that lately, so I’m excited to get back into a walking routine with WalkFit.
I think my biggest struggle has just been staying consistent and motivated. When I don’t notice my body changing or see the scale going down, I get disappointed and tend to “give up.” I’ve been weightlifting in the gym on and off for a few years, but I don’t love it and haven’t seen the results I want from weightlifting alone.
The one time in my life that I really prioritized my health the way I am planning to for this challenge—and leading into my 30th year—was the summer after my freshman year of college. I came home, went on a low-carb diet (I have PCOS, and my body lovesss to store carbs and sugar), and started going to Zumba every single day.
In about three months, I lost close to 30 pounds. I think that just goes to show that cardio has definitely been something that works for me. I think the best is truly a blend of cardio and resistance training.
Ooo, I love this question. That version of Becky looks and feels more confident in herself. I think if I’m able to accomplish this challenge and hit my goal (15 pounds down), I’ll be able to prove to myself that I really can do this.
I haven’t stuck to anything for longer than a month when it comes to my health/weight loss in years, so this is really going to push me, and I’m so excited about that.
I like to hope that she’s fitting into her clothes better, happier when she looks in the mirror, and overall just more confident—because she proved to herself that she can do it.
I’m planning to hopefully lose 15 pounds and become more confident in my ability to reach my goals. I also want to just feel more healthy and fit.
Right now, I’m walking about 5k steps/day if I’m lucky. I took the WalkFit quiz, and it said I need to be walking 11k steps/day. I know that’s going to be a challenge for me, so I am excited to achieve that consistently and prove to myself that I really can do it.
I feel like I have tried everything in my 29 years of life. I’ve done low carb, tracking macros… As a teenager, I did Jenny Craig, and I even did the Whole30 a few years ago. Exercise has always been a mixture of weightlifting and different kinds of cardio—whether it be at-home dance workouts, yoga classes, or Zumba.
We aren’t really friends right now… we’re in a bit of a fight.
I want to go into my 30s feeling healthy. I’m tired of being tired all the time and not being happy with the person I look at in the mirror. I want to feel confident in my body and in my clothes—and just feel like myself.
I’m just nervous about not reaching my goals. It would feel like I’m letting myself down. But, in the same breath, I’m really excited for this challenge. I think I’m most excited for the accountability of it all.
Knowing that my steps are being tracked on WalkFit—and loving a good streak—that’s going to keep me motivated to keep on going.
I feel tired and drained. I want to feel energized and ready to take on my day!
As a teenager, I was a Warped Tour girl. I went to the concert festival every summer and listened to those types of bands—All American Rejects, Boys Like Girls, All Time Low, Fall Out Boy, etc. That’s the type of music I like to listen to when I’m working out. It feels nostalgic and just gets me excited and hyped up.
Becky’s taking bold steps—and now, you can too.
The In Becky’s Shoes program is officially live in the WalkFit app, and it’s more than just a walking plan.
It’s a chance to walk with someone real, someone inspiring, someone figuring it out one step at a time—just like the rest of us.
So if you’re looking for a little motivation, a walking buddy, or just a fresh start—you’ve found it. Tap into Becky’s journey, follow her lead, and let’s get moving. Together.
